What is required for a CybeReunion? All that's required for both attendee and host is an internet connection--either direct dial-up, or through an online service such as America Online or CompuServe--and a browser. Either Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer will do nicely. CybeREUNION events are generally centered around a live "chat" event. "Chat" being internet parlance for multi-party typed communication. Why typed? Because unlike audio or video (or, for that matter--LIVE), it is possible in a typed conversation to hear and be heard by a great number of people simultaneously, even though several people may be talking at once. CybeREUNION brings all of the elements necessary to run an event to you: its server, software, programming abilities, and experience. You provide a live host or hostess, any special guests, and the cause to celebrate. Together, we will work to develop an environment and the event.
Why a CybeReunion? One of the biggest advantages is the ease of hosting or attending. But there's more. CybeReunions(tm) connect people like no regular event can--across generations as well as miles. No other event makes it so easy to attend, no matter where you are. No other event makes it so easy to meet people and find common interests quickly among those with whom you already share a common thread. As with all live events CybeReunions offer an outreach from the organization; and with that--renewed ties. For colleges and universities, alumni have the opportunity to catch up on what's happening with their alma mater, and with old friends. Other organizations--interest groups, geneological clubs; any collection of people with a common interest but lacking geographical proximity--can benefit from a CybeReunion as well. Travelling thousands of miles for the opportunity to meet someone unknown to you except by mail is expensive, but the investment in attending a CybeReunion is minimal, and yet promotes many of the same benefits. Beyond an event itself, CybeREUNION(tm) can help you build or update an electronic database. Using the event as an attraction, information can be gathered regarding anything from email addresses to employment or life history, ultimately helping to cut the costs of traditional communications. Fundraising can benefit from presentations on new programs or projects, or can be accomplished through the sales of advertising during the event. Maybe, as an academic institution, you'd like to host an event during the summer--traditionally a down-time--to keep a fundraiser going strong. The campus may be deserted, the weather may be awful, staff may all be on vacation.... That doesn't matter with a CybeReunion. In fact, you can be on vacation too--as long as you have your laptop and modem along! Colleges and Universities are always asking alumni for contributions. CybeREUNION (tm) allows them to give something back! Not just a calendar, mug, or tee-shirt--but a ticket home!
What are the costs of a CybeReunion? Surprisingly low! For a small college, probably less than the cost of a single alumni mailing. Fees are based on the number of active members, and the scope of the event. Basic fees for an organization of 10,000 or so members are less than 50¢ per member. But CybeReunions do not have to be merely basic events. We would be delighted to help you develop your ultimate event. Contact us for additional information on services and fees.
